Students at Hunstanton’s Smithdon High School are celebrating their A level success this morning.

Sixty-eight per cent of entries achieved A* to C grades, up two points on last year, with 35 per cent getting A* to B grades. The overall pass rate was 97 per cent.

Headteacher Paul Marsh said: “It is always rewarding to see students achieve the success they deserve.

“In a competitive world, our Sixth Form students are preparing themselves well for university, apprenticeships and the world of work.

“I would like to thank the school staff and – of course – the parents who have supported them through their studies with us, and I wish them all well with the next stage of their careers.”

Among the school’s notable success stories is head girl Molly Sands, who is now preparing to head to Newcastle University to read maths with her A*, A and B grades.

Four students who undertook a level three ICT programme all also achieved at least a distinction.
