The A47 will be closed for eight nights while road works are carried out.
The Highways Agency will be closing the road in both direction between Fair Green and Hardwick roundabout to carry out resurfacing work.
The project, which includes renewing road markings and studs, will begin tonight (Tuesday, April 1) and is due to finish on Friday, April 11. Work is due to be carried out between 8pm and 6am.
Highways Agency project manager Martin Oliver said:“This work will improve the road surface and so make journeys better for road users. We have to close the road in order to carry out this work safely and in the quickest possible time. To keep disruptions to a minimum, this will only be done at night when traffic flows are lightest.”
Eastbound A47 traffic will be diverted via the A10, the A134 and the A1122 while the westbound traffic will be diverted via the A1122 and the A10.
Local traffic will be diverted as follows: westbound traffic will be diverted through Fair Green via Station Road and Hill Road to the A47; eastbound local traffic will be diverted through North Runcton via the A10 to the A47.
