St Mary’s Church in Southery welcomed even their parishioners with four paws at the weekend for a special fundraising service and flower festival.
With a theme of all creatures great and small, the flower festival saw displays including a fish pond, Africa’s Big Five and one filled with polar bears and arctic foxes by the village primary school.
Churchwarden Judith Lagg said: “On the Sunday around 20 animals came along for the pet service, we had tortoises, ferrets and dogs and they were all very well-behaved. The vicar blessed them all.”
The weekend’s event raised £600 for the church, which organisers plan to use to redecorate the inside of the building.
