Runners who would like to put their energy into raising money are being recruited by the Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House.
On April 26 six supporters of the hospice will be pulling on their trainers and joining more than 30,000 people to run the London Marathon.
Last year, entrants running for the hospice raised £17,000 and it is hoped a similar figure will be generated this year.
The hospice fundraising team is already recruiting the team for next year’s race in the capital. The ballot opens on Monday, May 4, and the hospice is encouraging anyone who would like to take part in aid of the hospice, to apply for a ballot place.
It is also still recruiting runners for the Bespak Grand East Anglian Run to raise hospice funds. Runners will receive a free t-shirt provided by Lynn’s Cooper Roller Bearings, plus refreshments and a goody bag. Anyone interested should visit www.norfolkhospice.org.uk to register and download a sponsorship form.
Mark Shea, commercial director for the hospice based at Hillington, said funds from last year’s marathon and GEAR exceeded £20,000. He said: “All the funds raised by people in the community go directly towards funding specialist palliative care for people in the local area.”
