A team of binmen have been presented with a trophy for collecting the most sponsorship in the Hilgay Raft Race.

The Barmy Binmen, from Lynn, raised £1,500 for the Stroke Association during this year’s event.

The team were presented with a trophy by butcher Ali Dent and the Rotary Club of Downham. The binmen came second in the race with their raft made of wheelie bins and old surf boards.

Mr Dent said: “It was very good of them to raise as much money.”
Mr Dent raised £300 for Addenbrooke’s Hospital during a recent quiz night.
