Residents of a West Norfolk village are being encouraged to make the most of their village hall after it won a lottery grant of almost £3,000.
The money, which has been allocated to the building from the Big Lottery Fund, will be used to stage a range of activities at the hall in Barroway Drove.
And the programme will begin with a family activity event early next month.
Vicki Howling, the hall’s lettings secretary, said: “We know just how good the facilities at our village hall are but we need to let other people see for themselves.
“Whenever someone comes to the hall for the first time they always comment on how spacious and modern it is.
“We are really grateful to the lottery for giving us the opportunity to show people just what a great hall we have here in Barroway Drove.”
Weekly auctions are already held at the hall, along with monthly gatherings of the village’s Women’s Institute.
But the first event to be organised by the hall committee with the new funding will be a family discovery day to be held on Sunday, October 4, from 2pm.
The event will offer a range of family activities, including pony rides, a shooting range and a bouncy castle.
Other events which are expected to take place at the hall over the coming months include a psychic evening, a curry night with live music, first aid training and an afternoon of music from a local choir.
The grant will also enable a badminton club to be formed at the hall and a new community orchard to be planted on the playing field behind the building.
