Seven-year-old Grace Davies from Barton Bendish claimed her first regional gold medal to become Compulsory 5 regional champion at the Compulsory levels championships in Ipswich.

This is the route taken by gymnasts with the talent and ambition to reach elite level.

The compulsory level 5 gymnasts are taking their first steps on the elite level at only 7 and 8 years old.

Grace, who attends the Cherry Tree Academy Marham Infant School, makes an hour long commute to the Norfolk Academy of Gymnastics in Besthorpe four times a week, training for 19 hours a week.

She is also a member of the East regional squad. Her commitment was rewarded as she put in a near faultless set of routines across the pieces to take gold with a fantastic total of 65.40.

This first regional gold medal and title for this talented and committed young gymnast will hopefully be the first of many.
