Residents of one West Norfolk community have come together for a social evening to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War.

Villagers in Barton Bendish gathered at their village hall for the event, which was organised by the parish council and raised £230 for Help For Heroes.

The event included a display of pictures showing the final resting places of all the soldiers listed on the village’s war memorial, which was prepared by David Mason.

Guests also enjoyed foods from all of the 14 nations that took part in the conflict, as well as a quiz and presentations of memories from the period.
