Bid for a slice of celebrity in online auction

MORE clothes and goodies donated by celebrities from the world of television and theatre are up for grabs in a West Norfolk family's online charity auction.

Helen Buckenham (54), her sister Liz Smith (55) and their mother Anne Reynolds (85) are selling items donated by stars on eBay in a bid to raise 3,000 for the charity, Action for ME.

The trio have already raised more than 17,000 between them to support people with the debilitating illness ever since Mrs Buckenham was diagnosed with it herself 16 years ago.

The sisters launched the auction in 2006 as part of their Grand Challenge for the charity, and raised 4,000 by selling more than 50 items including the outfit worn by Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond film Die Another Day which sold for just under 1,000.

Mrs Buckenham, of Dersingham, said this week: "When my sister suggested doing an auction on eBay we had no idea that you can literally touch the world. We've had buyers from the USA, Japan, Germany and Australia, it's just been amazing."

They continually write to celebrities asking for donations, and now have several new items that will be coming up on the website soon.

Attracting bids already is a signed programme from the current West End show Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. It has been signed by Lee Mead, who landed the lead role after winning the BBC's Any Dream Will Do, and the 31 other cast members. Bidding for that item ends on Sunday, and new items will be uploaded every ten days. Forthcoming items include a signed photograph of Julian Clary and the script for the ITV programme This Morning which he co-hosted in January.

Actor Charles Dance has also donated a signed photograph and DVD of the film Last Action Hero in which he starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, and actress Elizabeth Bell has donated a script of The History Boys, signed by author Alan Bennett and the cast of the show at Wyndham's Theatre, London.

Actress Angela Richards has donated the Bruce Oldfield black sequin top she wore in the 1992 production of High Society and the skirt she wore in 2003/2004 show Call Me Merman at London's King's Head Theatre.
