A long-running saga in Terrington St John will come to an end this morning when South West Norfolk MP Elizabeth Truss officially opens a new pharmacy for the village.
Pharmacy provision in the village hit the headlines in 2011 after the closure of the doctor’s surgery.
Ms Truss worked with the parish, local councillors and the NHS to ensure full pharmacy provision remained in the village with a mobile unit put in place.
The new pharmacy was completed at the end of November last year and has been built with extra consultation rooms to encourage the provision of other health care services from one site.
Due to its rural nature, the residents of Terrington St John and neighbouring villages currently have to travel several miles to access services such as physiotherapy and podiatry.
It is hoped that the new consultation rooms will encourage the provision of these and other services locally.
