One of borough mayor Barry Ayers’ last engagements was to provide the voiceover for the World War One film project currently being produced by charity Bridge for Heroes.
The Great Story is a collaboration of 12 stop-motion animations involving 12 groups of six young people aged between 12 and 25.
The borough mayor, who was invited after hosting a carol service marking the 100th anniversary of the Christmas Truce, provided the voiceover for the Zeppelin part of the series, ahead of its expected release date towards the end of July.
It is hoped the series, which is also being produced in both Germany and Latvia, will provide an education and raise awareness about some of the defining events during World War One.
