The sounds of Barry Tyler’s Original Dixieland Jazz Band, pictured above, helped to support Help for Heroes and the Boughton Cricket Club on Saturday.

A jazz picnic, held at Rectory House, Boughton, raised £1,200, which will be shared between the two causes.

Cricket club officials say their share of the proceeds will go towards the amount they need to raise for a new pavilion at their ground.

The club has already received a £54,000 grant, but needs to raise a further £16,000 to cover the cost of the work.

So far, around £12,000 has been raised and the club hopes a hog roast which is due to take place next month will boost that figure further. MLNF16MF070151
