Witnesses are being urged to come forward after jewellery and hundreds of pounds in cash were stolen during a burglary in a coastal village last week.

Detectives say that the incident happened at an address in Mill Hill, Brancaster, between 11.50am and 12.10pm last Wednesday, August 20.

And they have issued a description of a man reportedly seen acting suspiciously in the area.

A Norfolk Police spokesman said the property’s owner, a woman in her 60s, had been in the front garden when a neighbour alerted her to a man acting suspiciously near the back garden.

When she went back into the house, she discovered that a number of rings and bracelets had been stolen from a glass cabinet in the lounge.

A jewellery box, which contained £700 in cash, had also been stolen from the bedroom.

The man is described as being of Mediterranean appearance with a dark brown complexion, around six feet tall, with long black shoulder length hair.

He is said to have been wearing a long-sleeved blue top and dark coloured bottoms.

Anyone who saw the incident, or a man matching that description, is asked to contact Det Con Gail Morley, of Lynn CID, via the non-emergency 101 number.

Alternatively, witnesses can also contract Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555111 with any information.
