Their motto is ‘Eat, drink and be jolly’ and now the staff and owners of the Jolly Sailors in Brancaster Staithe are feeling rather pleased themselves.

For the pub in Brancaster Staithe has been named joint winner for the third year running of the Best Family Pub for the East Anglia and East Midlands region in the Great British Pub Awards 2015.

A delighted Heather Tidd, general manager, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be awarded Regional Winner for the third year running!

“It is a brilliant achievement and reflects again all the hard work by the dedicated team at The Jolly Sailors to retain this award.

“It is a fantastic reward for the whole team at The Jolly Sailors.”

Ed Berrington, editor of the publican’s bible, the Morning Advertiser, said: “The judges commended the Jolly Sailors for their fantastic family friendly atmosphere as well as a great food offer for both children and parents.”

The Jolly Sailors now goes head-to-head with five other regional winners for the UK title. All were chosen for being great little locals run by enterprising, hard-working landlords who go out of their way to offer their patrons a home from home to make their pub the hub of the community.

The other winners are Blackwood Arms in Littleworth Common, Buckinghamshire and the Sheppey Inn in Lower Godney, Somerset.
