Brave soles are needed to take part in a charity firewalk.

More than 100 volunteers are needed to take on the challenge of walking across hot coals to raise money for the Stroke Association.

Butcher Ali Dent has organised the event, on Saturday, September 20, at the River Meadow Field, in Hilgay, and is appealing for walkers to step up and stand a chance of winning a driving experience in a Lotus Elise.

Mr Dent said: “This is great way to raise money for the Stroke Association.”

People taking part stand the chance of winning a tour around the Lotus factory along with a track driving session in a Lotus Elise.

Volunteers will be given a safety talk prior to the walk, which will start from 7pm. Registration costs £15 and organisers are hoping people will collect sponsorship.

Mr Dent is also organising a book sale at Hilgay Village Hall on Sunday, May 18, to raise money for Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. For more details call Mr Dent on 01366 387686.
