The son of Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Stephen Bett, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, police have announced this afternoon, Tuesday, November 11.

Henry Bett, 26, of Hall Lane, Thornham, is due to appear before Lynn magistrates on December 10 to face the charge.

The case refers to a collision between a tractor and a people carrier on West Acre Road, Castle Acre on December 4 last year, in which 43-year-old Rebecca Brown, from Castle Acre, died.

The case was referred to Essex Police owing to the relationship of one of the parties involved to Mr Bett.

A spokesman for the commissioner said: “This is a private matter for Stephen and his family and as such is not one the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner will be commenting on.”
