Division Three

Acle 2nd 103 all out (3 pts) lost to North Runcton 2nd 314-4 (25) by 211 runs

Runcton 2nd XI made the long journey to Acle and returned with the maximum haul of 25 points.

The win moves them up to third spot.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first on Saturday, captain Darryn Faivelowitz and Mark Bunting set the tone for the whole innings, hitting early boundaries all round the ground.

Despite Faivelowitz being dismissed for a quick-fire 23 this didn’t stop Bunting who went on to smash a career best 155 which included 17 fours and five sixes.

Runs kept flowing as Nick Freeman joined Bunting at the crease and scored 51 which included six fours.

Despite Acle taking the two crucial wickets of Bunting and Freeman, Tom Bunting and Darren Cubitt struck an unbeaten 36 and 23 respectively to make sure maximum batting points were secured and an emphatic total was posted.

In reply the home side started aggressively but it soon became the Mike Annakin show who took 7-31 as he bowled his 12 overs right through.

Runcton’s fielding must also be praised with four excellent catches as well as some very good ground fielding.

This was demonstrated best when Freeman managed a run out with a direct hit.

Bob Belcher was the other wicket taker in the innings, taking 2-8.

Next weekend North Runcton return to home comforts against Brooke 2nd XI where they will be looking to make it three wins in a row.
