A47: Roadworks to repair bridges on bypass

The A47 Lynn bypass will close overnight for almost a fortnight from Monday when repairs and maintenance work gets underway.

Work to temporarily resurface the Harbour Junction Bridge, River Nar Bridge and Great Ouse Bridge and remove damaged sections of waterproofing is expected to finish on January 26.

The work will be carried out during weeknights only, with the bypass being closed from 8pm each night and re-opened by 6am.

Highways Agency project manager, Brian Pitkin, said: “In areas where the material is damaged, it has caused the road surface to lift and crack.”

Permanent work will be carried out in the warmer summer months so the material can bond to the bridge decks and provide a lasting road surface.

The bypass will be closed between the Pullover Junction and Hardwick Roundabout, with diversions along the A1011 Outwell Road and A10 at Downham.
