KING’S LYNN AND FAKENHAM: Thomas Cook stores to remain open

Two West Norfolk travel agents are not affected by the announcement that Thomas Cook is closing 195 of its high street stores.

The world’s oldest travel firm announced yesterday that it was axing 2,500 jobs as it tries to make its administrative costs as low as possible.

Stores in Lynn and Fakenham are not on the list of stores which are going to be close.

Joanna Wild, managing director of the Thomas Cook Co-operative retail network, said: “We can confirm that Thomas Cook stores in Lynn and Fakenham have not been affected by the current plans to close stores.

“We continually review our store network to ensure that we are best placed to remain the UK’s leading travel retailer.”

The company has debts of £1.5 billion.
