KING’S LYNN: Teenage entrepreneur’s ‘Blissful’ business
Beauty therapist Annie Gorringe has set up 'Blissful Beauty' inside 'Opium Hair Design' in St Peter's Road.
Beauty therapist Annie Gorringe has followed through her determination to launch her own business and hopes that her example will encourage other budding entrepreneurs to do the same.
Annie, who is 19, has set up Blissful Beauty, working at her base in Opium Hair Design in St Peter’s Road, West Lynn, Wednesdays to Saturdays and providing a mobile service on Mondays and Tuesdays.
After leaving Springwood High School, she studied beauty therapy for two years at Lynn’s College of West Anglia, and for her Level 3 course she was named Student of the Year 2012.
“A lot people get qualifications at the college but find it difficult to get any work. I was determined that I wanted to run my own business, so I worked at a store in Lynn for a few months over the Christmas period and saved money to put towards my start-up costs,” said Annie, who lives at Grimston.
“My message to other young people who may want to set up their own venture is to be work hard and follow your aspirations. It’s worth at least giving it a go.
“Running my own business has made me feel stronger in myself and has given me more confidence.”
Annie used the money she earned over Christmas to pay for another course plus products and insurances. She also attended a Norfolk and Waveney Enterprise Services business course sponsored by Barclays Bank.
“I have had lots of support from NWES, which has given me a loan and assisted with my business plan. I have a NWES mentor who I see on a regular basis and he can follow my progress. I think he seems very impressed with how determined I am,” said Annie.
