Lynn and Downham: Peacocks stores saved

PEACOCKS clothes stores in Lynn and Downham have been saved.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill has bought the failing brand and will save the towns’ stores among 388 other Peacocks shops and concessions in a deal protecting around 6,000 jobs in Britain.

Nine staff employed at the Downham store and 12 in Lynn have been fearing for the future of their jobs since Peacocks called in administrators last month.

The buy-out will see a total of 224 Peacocks stores closed, with the loss of 3,100 jobs.
