Lynn: Supermarket plan changes
SHOPPERS could visit a dentist or doctor while doing their weekly shop after alterations to a supermarket have been approved.
Sainbury’s applied to West Norfolk Council to alter the blueprints for their new store in Scania Way, Lynn.
The application, which includes part of a cold store on the Pinguin Lutosa site, was approved by the planning committee yesterday.
The chain is adding a mezzanine floor to house the cafe and staff room in order to make room for its on-line shopping operation downstairs.
The plans also include a health consultation room, possibly for a doctor or dentist
The supermarket has also been given permission to increase its service yard to house 28 delivery vans for its on-line service.
It has also applied to alter the layout of the petrol station, car park and landscaping.
But committee chairman Vivienne Spikings called for mature trees to be planted after pointing out the importance of trees currently on site.
She said: “They are an asset. There is a lot of wildlife in that particular area.”
The committee also approved plans for Pinguin to build a replacement cold store elsewhere on its site.
