More time for Campbell’s Tower nominations

DEMOLITION of the iconic Campbell’s Tower at Lynn has been put back until late January – so you now have more time to nominate a Lynn News reader to press the button that brings it down.

We are extending the deadline for nominations of readers worthy of this place in local history until the end of the year.

The water tower, one of Lynn’s best-known landmarks for more than 50 years, will be brought down in a controlled explosion ready for Tesco’s £40m redevelopment of its store and adjoining site in Hardwick Road.

A Tesco spokesman said: “It is important that all our partner agencies are satisfied with the safety arrangements in hand. To allow this to happen, we have delayed the demolition of the Campbell’s tower until late January.”

Email your nominations to mike.last@lynnnews.co.uk; or post to Mike Last, Senior Writer, Lynn News, Limes House, Purfleet Street, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, PE30 1HL.
