Stoke Ferry society’s wheat results

STOKE Ferry Agricultural Society’s annual wheat competition, drew 21 entries with Bill Legge winning both the spring and winter categories.

His Tybalt spring wheat sample weighed in at 76.8 kg, with Peter Thorpe’s AC Barrie entry second at 75.6 kg and another AC Barrie sample from Tim Whittaker making 74.4kg. In the winter wheat class, which attracted 14 entries, it was Bill Legge’s Gallant entry which made the top weight at 82.4kg. Allan Askew’s Solstice weighed 78.4 kg and in equal third spot were Roger Eyles (JB Diego) and Peter Thorpe (Scout) with samples weighing 77.2kg.
