THORNHAM: Orange Tree celebrates top county accolade

The Orange Tree in Thornham is celebrating news that it has been named Norfolk Dining Pub of the Year by The Good Pub Guide.

It is run by Mark and Jo Goode, who are delighted it has been selected by the guide as the best of its kind in the county. The Orange Tree prides itself on being family-friendly, welcoming couples, families and dogs alike. One of the pub’s six en suite rooms is a family suite and even has a doggy menu.

Mark said: “We are thrilled with this huge accolade which means so much to us as it is voted for by our loyal customers. We and our staff strive hard to serve award-winning food, from top-quality local produce in a laid-back, ‘unstuffy’ environment.

“The Orange Tree offers a haven of tranquillity where couples, families, friends and dogs are welcomed with open arms. Our Doggy menu is very popular!

“We have six en suite bedrooms, making us the perfect spot to relax and enjoy our stunning beaches by day and our award-winning food and wine by night.”

The Good Pub Guide 2013 says: “With a genuinely warm welcome, and a relaxed, chatty bar, it’s no wonder that this well-run pub is so popular. With Adnams, Woodfordes Wherry and a guest on handpump, 24 wines by the glass, good courteous service, and inventive and extremely good food, using local seafood and seasonal produce.”

Award winning executive chef, Phil Milner and his team make sure that they only use the very best local seasonal produce and local seafood, which, along with the pub’s welcome, is one of the things commended in The Good Pub Guide 2013.
