Brancaster-based “2posh2pitch” is the inspiration of mum-of-two Kate Southerland who has set up a business renting out ready-to-use tents for parties and sleep-overs.
Kate came up with the business idea after struggling to put a tent up in the rain at the start of a family holiday last year. Convinced it would have been better to arrive on site where everything was ready and waiting, she turned to Norfolk and Waveney Enterprise Services for help to develop the idea into a business.
She invested in equipment, including solar-powered lighting, and now her focus is on building the business ready for next year’s season.
She rents out fully-erected Soulpad bell tents, and this year she is offering a spooky Hallowe’en package ideal for kids’ parties, including Hallowe’en lights plus lots of treats and extras – but definitely no ghosts!
Kate explained: “We pitch the tents in the customer’s gardens for sleepover parties or simply to accommodate extra house guests ‘glamping style’. There’s a range of packages available from a basic set up to complete luxury including bedding, furniture and equipment.”
This autumn Kate is launching themed party tents and, with the help of children from Brancaster Primary School, Kate had a trial run of her Hallowe’en package. Kate said: “The party has been a great success; all the children had a wonderful time and I’m confident that the themed tents will become popular with parents who are looking for a novel party idea.”
