Change of focus for former Lynn News photographer

Former Lynn News staff photographer Paul Tibbs is taking a new step in his career by launching his own business – expanding on the news work he will still undertake.

Paul, from Clenchwarton, has worked for the Lynn News for the past 14 years but a restructuring means all our photographs are now supplied by freelancers or by members of the public.

He took up the offer of voluntary redundancy from Johnston Press and has set up Paul Tibbs Photography.

Former colleagues Paul Marsh, Alan Miller and Adam Fairbrother have also set up individual operations and like Paul will continue to supply the Lynn News.

Weddings are one of Paul’s specialities, whether it’s full coverage, capturing all the poignant moments of the day, or alternatively, an agreed set of images for couples on a lower budget.

He will also be able to focus on portraits, including those of newborns, family groups or pictures to mark a special event, such as birthdays or wedding anniversaries.

For businesses he can provide anything from a single profile picture for its social media account to a portfolio of multiple images.

With plenty of experience behind the lens, Paul, who studied photography at Lynn’s College of West Anglia, will be able to share his knowledge and is offering one-to-one tuition.

He said: “These sessions will be aimed ideally at the beginner. I will be able to teach people how to control their cameras and give them an understanding of composition, exposure and lighting.

“I am available as a personal tutor for either half or a full day and can join people on location to give them an understanding of the basic principles of photography.”

He will be teaming up with Tracey Robinson, of the Lynn Photography Group, for an on-location flash workshop on Sunday, August 24, 7pm to 9pm.

The cost is £40 per person and early booking is advised. Full details can be found on King’s Lynn Photography Group Facebook page.
