Sports car specialist Mat Smith has invested in new hi-tech equipment for his Downham workshops in a bid to attract new business.
Although he already has many regular customers prepared to travel hundreds of miles for him to work on their high performance vehicles, he hopes that his latest commitment will also benefit owners of standard road cars.
The computerised four-wheel aligner and corner weighting kit is designed to set up the car’s wheels and suspension so precisely and accurately that it will improve handling, comfort, economy and safety.
“It is a vital piece of kit for high performance and race cars but every car could benefit,” said Mat who has built up a flourishing business at Unit 1E,Sovereign Way on the Trafalgar industrial estate. High performance cars from Jaguars to Jensens are the mainstay of the business and as a result of Mat’s long-time background and expertise with the TVR brand the garage has become an approved TVR service centre.
Mat worked with TVRs in London and for the Brundle Group in West Norfolk when it held a TVR franchise. He took his expertise to Sebring Cars at Three Holes before setting up on his own.
Clients from London and right across East Anglia now bring their cars to Mat and he is also heavily involved in race preparation so the new equipment means he will be able to help clients by setting up their cars for track days and circuit racing.
