Wingland Foods, based in Sutton Bridge, last week celebrated the official opening of its new despatch area and completion of the factory extension announced in October 2013.

The new extension, which has been built by Lynn-based company, Chalcroft Construction, has been designed to increase capacity in the factory and the additional space will be used to support future growth.

Wingland Foods, part of the Bakkavor Group, is the designated factory for Waitrose Salads and the official opening on Friday was carried out by Paul Walker, Director of Chilled Prepared Foods and Fresh Produce for Waitrose.

Mike Edwards, UK chief operating officer at Bakkavor said: “We are delighted to mark the occasion of the completion of the new despatch area at Wingland Foods.

“The additional space created and improvement in design will not only allow us to meet the growth demands of our customer, but it will give us the opportunity to invest in local employment to grow and service our business.”
