Accountant John Garrett has seen his independent bookkeeping business grow at such a rate that after one year of trading he has already achieved his three-year target figure of client numbers.
John, who is a member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers with a full practice licence, set up JPG Bookkeeping and Accountancy Services with the intention of being able to help smaller businesses and sole traders.
“I spent four years working for a local firm of chartered accountants, but I decided to become self-employed because I felt that smaller businesses did not always get the time or attention that they needed from the bigger firms.
“My business aims to provide a more personal service. I am just a phone call away and am available in the evenings and at weekends – which can be really helpful for people who are busy during the working week,” said Johm, who works from his home in Spring Close, Reffley.
“My first year has been outstanding. As I work at home, it keeps down overheads and this is reflected in what I charge my clients. My customers are happy, and I’m happy,” he said.
“Even though the majority of my clients operate small businesses, I am also available to provide services such a payroll, for larger companies.”
He can arrange to meet customers wherever convenient and his services include all bookkeeping, VAT returns, registering with HMRC, yearly accounts and employment and subcontractor tax returns.
