Signs that the recession is beginning to ease for some areas of the West Norfolk business community have been evident at Lynn’s BNI Vancouver Chapter which saw a record-breaking 2013.

In September it was confirmed that the group had exceeded its 2012 record breaking total of recorded, invoiced business of £1.2 million. But at the first meeting of BNI Vancouver in January the final tally for 2013 was confirmed – another record breaker of £1,536,535 of business generated over the 12 months.

BNI Vancouver works on a referral basis with each member seeking qualified referrals for Chapter colleagues. The outstanding results of over £1.5 million resulted from over 2,000 active referrals being passed between members. The largest order resulting from a single referral was a staggering £117,360 of business.

BNI Vancouver members feature trades, professions and service providers and membership now numbers 31. Its members have already set themselves the target of making even more money by the end of 2014.

BNI chapters have only one type of business per category and currently has some vacancies with the aim of increasing membership as well as solid business opportunities.

Membership co-ordinator, Heather Garrod, announced the Chapter’s achievement at the January meeting and since then, referrals and high levels of invoiced business have continued to flow.

Chapter director, Peter Oddey (Spectrum Financial Services), said: “BNI is an excellent way for anyone serious about doing business to receive referred opportunities for real business.

“We don’t pass ‘leads’ which mean we have simply mentioned a chapter colleague to someone, we will have actively promoted their services. Every referral is a genuine opportunity to win business and our results show just how good BNI Vancouver is at attracting effective networking colleagues who work to help each other week in, week out.

“We also want to increase our Chapter numbers on the BNI basis of one person representing one category, and the first step is for people interested to visit a breakfast meeting and find out how BNI Vancouver sets new records every year.”

Anyone interested in finding out more and joining can attend a breakfast meeting, which are held on Thursdays at Hanse House on South Quay. More information is available from Maxine Thorne (Business Buddy UK) on 07799 06293.
