Lynn-based Foster Refrigerator has been awarded a string of accolades for its continued commitment to improving the environmental impact of its manufacturing.

The refrigeration manufacturer, based on Hardwick Industrial Estate, is doing so well in the awards thanks to the success of its 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report, launched this year.

Last week the company, whose environmental commitment begins with its manufacturing processes, and ends with its market-leading the EcoPro range, collected three commendations for targets achieved in its CSR report and its “working today, to protect tomorrow” mandate.

Foster received a Regional Commendation Sustainable Manufacturing Award South East in the manufacturer’s association EEF Future Manufacturing Awards, with judges noting how its sustainability progress is linked to social responsibility – especially training staff and local sourcing of materials, and a carbon reduction of
64 per cent in fiveyears.

The company was also awarded Highly Commended in the Waitrose Way award for Treading Lightly for Carbon Reduction, which celebrates suppliers who enhance the sustainability of their part of the business chain.

Foster were one of 150 companies entering the awards, which were set up in 2012, as part of Waitrose’s own CSR commitment.

Foster also collected a Silver commendation from Green Apple, in their Engineering and Manufacturing awards, unveiled at a ceremony at the House of Commons. Green Apple is a not-for-profit NGO who promote environmental best practise across the
globe.

Laura Kirk, head of marketing at Foster, said these latest successes highlight that the company is getting it right when it comes to proving its environmental credentials, and products. She said: “We are thrilled our CSR and the associated work is getting
recognition.

“It is a robust document which we created to be based on independently accredited facts – this means we know it holds weight and the targets we set are verified,
and are working to reduce carbon across our
business.”
