King’s Lynn vets celebrates top spots in run-up to national awards

Lynn’s Mill House Veterinary Surgery and Hospital is celebrating being named as a top organisation for people management practice in the UK, having been shortlisted for two categories in the first Investors in People national awards.

It has been shortlisted in the category for Employer of the Year, for businesses with between two and 49 employees, and Most Innovative People Strategy.

The Awards, which received over 500 entries from all over the UK and different sectors, will recognise the best people management practices amongst Investors in People accredited businesses, with winners being announced at a ceremony on June 23.

In the Employer of the Year category, Mill House Veterinary Surgery and Hospital has been shortlisted for demonstrating business success, excellence and innovation in people management practices, as well as a clear commitment for delivering tangible results in the future.

The Most Innovative People category recognises the use of innovative HR practices to bring about effective change. Candidates were asked to show that they are at the cutting edge of HR practices and how they are demonstrating new ways of thinking that have resulted in clear benefits for their organisation. In both categories, the practice has been shortlisted alongside five other companies.

Carole Clarke, director of the Tennyson Avenue business, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for these awards – the Investors in People framework has been at the core of our activities for many years.

“Our team’s enthusiasm has driven our accreditation to Gold Standard and to maintain the Health and Wellbeing Standard, which reflects our commitment to mutual support and flexibility. We work together with our pet owners to develop the skills they value, so we can deliver continual excellence in patient care in a friendly and supportive environment.”

Paul Devoy, head of Investors in People, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the number and calibre of entries received for the inaugural Investors in People Awards. It’s fantastic to see so many organisations nominated, demonstrating great people management practice and a commitment to staff development. Mill House Veterinary Surgery and Hospital should be extremely proud.”

Investors in People is the UK’s leading accreditation for business improvement through people management, and provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business.

The awards ceremony at London’s Landmark Hotel will be hosted by comedian Hugh Dennis.
