An extensive refurbishment programme which has created new facilities for Lynn’s Bespak has been completed by Chalcroft Construction with minimal disruption to the day-to-day running of the factory.
The project included the refurbishment of an existing production area to provide two dedicated clean rooms for the moulding and assembly of pharmaceutical and medical devices.
Chalcroft also extended the building to construct a new goods in/goods out, as well as new welfare facilities, including toilets, offices and a canteen. The design and build contract successfully completed by Chalcroft was undertaken at Bespak’s product development and production facilities in Lynn which remained operational throughout the project. It forms part of a continuing programme of investment and growth as Bespak, a leading global supplier of drug delivery devices, expands.
Paul Morley, Chalcroft operations director, said: “The project at Bespak presented several key challenges. The area being converted formed part of an existing building containing Bespak’s principle high care production area; this had to remain operational at all times. Innovative design solutions were also required in order to overcome the challenges presented by limited floor-to-ceiling space.
“Chalcroft worked closely with Bespak throughout the project. This collaboration enabled Bespak to start installing production equipment in the clean rooms prior to the project’s completion, minimising interruption to normal operations and maintaining high care standards throughout.”
