Food delivery business Roger Holme Foods, based in East Rudham, has teamed up with a company which provides nutritious meals for senior citizens and is launching its service throughout North West Norfolk.
On the Menu uses a team of specialist dieticians and chefs to create food designed to meet the needs of older people. The food range was launched three years ago by Elizabeth Jones, from Winchester, following difficulties she faced when finding suitable meals when caring for her own mother.
Meals are low in salt, high in nutrients and vegetables are all fresh frozen. The range also includes gluten free options.
Roger Holme Foods will be delivering weekly to households, helping those who might find cooking for themselves or getting to the shops difficult.
A family business since 1978, Roger Holme Foods will be happy to place food in the freezer for those who need help.
Partner, Richard Holme, of Roger Holme Foods, is delighted to be supplying such a vital alternative to those who need it most: “We are excited to be meeting such a real need in older people who might otherwise be missing meals, eating unhealthy processed foods or relying on less nutritious options.”
Orders can be placed by calling 01485 528440 for those who are not using the internet.
On the Menu takes into consideration the guideline daily amounts set out by the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research. Each main meal provides one of the recommended five-a-day; has a high protein level, and is low in salt and saturated fat.
All meals are free from MSG, GMO ingredients and garlic, which market research identified as a digestive irritant for seniors.
Elizabeth Jones said: “ On the Menu helps individuals and their carers to plan carefully balanced meals that are not only a convenient and
appealing choice, but that also cater to their tastes and overall health. Challenges that our customers face include diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, cancer and many other conditions. We are now delighted to offer home delivery in the north Norfolk area in partnership with Roger Holme
