New records are being broken as the order books are rapidly filling up at a Norfolk turkey farm which is celebrating winning a prestigious award for the second year running.
Godwick Turkeys, which earlier this year found out it had been awarded the Great Taste Award for the second year running with the highest grade possible, is providing birds for Christmas tables up and down the country.
Last year one of the customers of the Tittleshall farm was TV chef Anthony Worrall Thompson, whose appreciation features on the farm’s website. He said: “I just wanted you to know what a splendid turkey you sent me for Christmas. The bird was lovely, flavoursome and moist and cooked very well. All the best.”
Famer Robert Garner said: “The orders are really building up now and coming in quickly. Our online shop is expanding and we are seeing massive growth. In the last ten years, the business has really grown.”
He said this year the farm, which prides itself in providing a top-quality free range environment for the birds, has 5,000 turkeys, which is more than ever before.
He was delighted with winning the 2013 Great Taste Award. “This national award scheme is highly competitive. Awards are graded with one, two or three stars. The one star category means that the food is as good as faultless and we have managed to achieve this rating for a second time.”
