Heacham’s Extra Hands Home Care team were still on a high when they held an open day last week which followed hot on the heels of success in a prestigious care awards scheme.

The open day on Friday resulted in the company gaining more recruits to join its growing team of carers.

The night before, at a glittering awards ceremony at Dunston Hall, Anita Walter, managing director of the company, was presented with the motivational leadership award in the first ever Norfolk Care Awards, which attracted hundreds of nominations across nine categories.

And the firm also achieved highly commended in the delivering excellence through learning and development category and another highly commended rating was awarded to director Hazel Evans in the outstanding achievement category.

The care company’s open day was held at its base at Unit 13, Heacham Hall Industrial Estate, and was part of the national “I Care... Ambassadors Week” which aimed to promote careers in care.

Visitors had the chance to meet adult social care workers and find out more about working in the care sector.

“We had a good response and as a result of that day we have gained three new recruits,” said Anita. As previously reported in the Lynn News, the company is aiming to take on a further 50 recruits in future.

The company also has an office in Norwich and employs around 200 carers and over 20 office staff.
