Farmers dedicated to the survival of one of the country’s rarest native breeds will be staging another “Walk the Pork” event at their Fen Farm base in Oxborough.
Robert and Sarah Simmonds own Scotts Field Pork, a herd of 60 Large Black Sows, and will be hosting their farm walk on Thursday, September 11.
During their walk held last year they discussed the CPRE’s report From Field to Fork which highlighted local food webs, their importance to the local economy and the challenges they face.
This year they will be showcasing the Brecks Sausage Roll and will also be kicking off the Brecks Food Festival weekend which is part of the wider Norfolk Food Festival.
They will also be introducing their flock of native breed sheep, which are marketed using the brand Wissey Valley Lamb, and which are supplied to high street butchers.
