Warm temperatures in October have helped to boost this year’s harvest for Burnham Norton-based Norfolk Saffron.
Dr Sally Francis, who runs the businesss said: “Record-breaking weather seemed to be in our favour and the warmer-than-normal October nights produced flowers with lovely long stalks and nice thick stigmas.”
She said that she had to call in extra help to gather in the harvest and flowering continued well into mid-November.
The business, which has now set up its own online shop at www.norfolksaffron.co.uk/shop, will be one of over 50 exhibitors at the Christmas Farmers’ Market taking place at Creake Abbey tomorrow.
Visitors can explore the Abbey ruins and car parking is free.
