Young cattle handler Robbie Moore couldn’t have wished for a better birthday present when he returned home from Saturday’s Hertfordshire County Show with an armful of rosettes.
Robbie, who was 13 on the day, won Breed Champion and Female Champion with his yearling Angus heifer Estella and another of his herd, Mary Princess, won Reserve Female while her bull calf won reserve male. Estella went on to win reserve interbreed native, and on Sunday, Robbie was chosen as Champion Young Handler, a category open to those under the age of 26.
Proud mum, Natasha Moore, of Oakfarm, Fen Lane, Grimston, said; “Robbie has a natural eye for cattle. He chose Estella himself as having potential from a field of around 60 to 70 cows with calves at foot.
