Business sponsors who supported West Norfolk Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s last show have all climbed aboard to support its next, The Pirates of Penzance.
And such was the success of The Sorcerer earlier this year by the society, an extra performance has been added to their run of The Pirates and two more charities are set to benefit.
The charity twinning project proved very successful last time and so once again each performance of The Pirates in January 2015 will be sponsored by a local business and they will also donate to a different charity each night.
Representatives from the business and the charities will be introduced on stage at the beginning of the evening. The charity will be also be promoted in the foyer of Lynn Arts Centre, where the show will be performed, and the bar, and it will also make a collection at the end of the show.
Amanda Arterton, who coordinated the project last year, said: “I was delighted with the support we received from our business sponsors for The Sorcerer and it was very gratifying when all four of them came on board for The Pirates of Penzance, which left me only one new sponsor to find for this season.
“Three of the charities are the same as last year, but we have two new ones and they are The Alzheimer’s Society and The East Anglian Air Ambulance. The charities all thought this to be an innovative way to raise much needed funds and to raise their local profile.
“Last year a total of £1,900 was donated across the performances for the charities involved.”
The business sponsors supporting a performance and charity are: on Wednesday, January 28, Pil Membranes for East Anglian Air Ambulance; Thursday, January, 29, Fenton’s Insurance Solutions Ltd for Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House; Friday, January 30, Hayes & Storr Solicitors for Age UK Norfolk; matinee, on Saturday. January 31, The Mortgage Bureau for The Alzheimer’s Society; and Saturday evening, January 31, Hayhow & Co Accountants for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Tickets for the show are on sale at the Box Office on 01553 764864.
