Leading specialist in the UK’s emergency lighting industry, Alan Daniels, was kept quite in the dark by his colleagues at Fakenham based firm P4 Ltd who threw a surprise party to mark his 40 years in the sector.
Mr Daniels joined P4 Ltd in Wymans Way in 2006 with a wealth of experience in product development and management as well as design and technical roles in a variety of positions and companies.
His colleagues at P4 held a celebratory buffet, which was also attended by members of his family, and he was presented with gift vouchers for a fly fishing shop in London by P4 CEO Peter Warner.
Mr Daniels, who is P4’s technical director, has shaped many changes in the lighting industry where he is a well known figure having been involved in the development of standards for emergency lighting both in the UK and in Europe. He has trained many recruits to the industry.
He said: “The emergency lighting industry was in its infancy in the UK when I joined it 40 years ago. There were no national standards for the construction and installation of these life safety products which work tirelessly in the background that we all expect to be available to protect us in buildings when normal lighting fails. They help us find safe evacuation routes and escape from emergencies, such as fires.
“During the last ten years I have enjoyed enormously working within P4 Ltd.”
P4, a family-owned business, is recognised as the UK’s leading manufacturer of self-testing emergency lighting products and systems.
