Former KES student Finlay Barnham, who has co-founded a business specialising in nutritional food, has sealed a deal with a Lynn gym.

Finlay, 25, who lives in Lynn, co-founded Fit HQ after he was forced to end his career as a professional rugby player for Nottingham.

Initially Fit HQ provided a range of natural, healthy, fitness foods at sports events across the UK and now it has launched an online store following feedback from consumers who had tried their products.

It has just agreed a sales contract with Heros Fitness gym in Bryggen Road, North Lynn Industrial Estate, to promote Fit HQ products to gym members.

Finlay founded Fit HQ with Nick Hood, from the Midlands, who he met while in Nottingham and who was also a top level rugby player until injury called an end to his career prematurely.

Said Finlay, who suffered a number of concussions during his time as a pro scrum half: “Being forced toretire from professional rugby was a real low point for me. I had spent many months desperately trying to recover. I received the same advice from three neurologists so I knew that I had to make the decision to stop playing. The doctors couln’t quantify the damage that could have been caused with the next blow to the head.

“Since then Nick and I have been working hard on creating the business from a standing start, from investment memorandums to product development and ultimately channels to market.

“Fit HQ is unique. We provide the consumer a nutritional combination, not a compromise. Current online brands specifically focus on delivering ridiculously high protein content aligned towards the body builder consumer. Fit HQ is different, we recognise the importance of the right balance between protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals to support a fit and healthy lifestyle.”

Said Nick: “We have been very keen to make it as accessible as possible to customers so this new online store is an exciting step for us.

“What we are offering is suitable for everyone, from those people who just want to lead an active, healthy lifestyle to professional sportsmen and women who need the convenience of fresh and tasty food that meets their particular nutritional requirements.”

Among their customers is Finlay’s brother, Fergus, from Lynn, who with Serena De Nahlik, became nationalsailing champions in 2015.

Fit HQ’s online store is at www.fit-hq.co.uk and offers products including breakfasts, meals and snacks.
