Hunstanton’s Norfolk Deli managing director Mark Kacary will be up against stiff competition when he takes part in the next round of a sandwich designing contest.

Mark, who co-owns the Greevegate deli with wife Rosie, has reached the Midlands semi finals of the Sandwich Designer of the Year competition run by the British Sandwich and Food to Go Association.

He will creating sandwiches in three categories of the semi finals which take place at Northampton on Thursday, March 9. Judges chose Mark’s recipes from around 300 entries in the Midlands area and is one of 14 entrants competing in six categories for a chance of going through to the grand final ahead of British Sandwich Week in May.

Said Mark: “It’s very exciting to be a semi-finalist. I am a little gobsmacked to find myself up against businesses which employ thousands and have substantial development budgets. But we know that there are very few places in the region offering sandwiches quite like ours and I guess this proves it.”
