Top-quality food sourced locally features in a new business which has just been launched in Hunstanton by a husband-and-wife team.

The opening of The Norfolk Deli in Greevegate fulfils an ambition of Rosie and Mark Kacary, who have moved to the resort after living in Lambourn, Berkshire.

For Rosie, 51, who was once an actress and then a midwife for several years, the move to Sunny Hunny was a case of returning to her Norfolk roots as she was brought up and educated in Norwich.

Husband Mark, 53, an IT consultant for 30 years, said: “I had been thinking about the potential of running a deli several years ago, but we decided to wait until our three children had left education before we made the move.

“We realise that today people are beginning to look more closely at what they eat and are influenced by the numerous TV cookery programmes. Sometimes it can be incredibly difficult to source the food they are searching for and that is where we aim to come in.

“In Norfolk there are many top-quality food producers and our stock will mainly be provided from around the county. For instance, we will sell wet fish which will be caught locally.”

Mark and Rosie both enjoy Norfolk’s diverse foods and the deli will offer produce ranging from ales to chutneys and salami to locally roasted coffee as well has hard-to-find ingredients for special recipes.

The couple’s future plans include a cafe where they hope to serve homemade soups and cakes.

The Norfolk Deli website offers quality hampers for all kinds of occasions and other products can be bought online or in the store, which will be open seven days a week. Its opening times are 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
