Learning Resources, the Lynn-based manufacturer of educational toys, has plans for major expansion into new European retail markets and has just signed an exclusive agreement with a new Spanish distributor.

The company, based on Bergen Way, North Lynn Industrial Estate, has signed a two-year agreement with Madrid-based Feran, SA to provide exclusive distribution for its best-selling toys and learning aids in independent toy stores throughout Spain.

Dennis Blackmore, managing director of Learning Resources, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Learning Resources. Feran shares many of the same values as Learning Resources, providing its customers with the best services, most innovative products and the highest levels of quality within the field of education.

“We are very excited about the partnership and see this as a major launch platform for the Learning Resources brand in southern Europe.”

Twenty-five Feran, SA staff also completed a Learning Resources product training day at Feran’s Madrid offices. Carmen Gimenez, European account sales manager at Learning Resources, said: “It was a really great day and the team from Feran were really engaged by our products.

“We presented Learning Resources’ diverse collection of educational toys and games, plus we had a lot of fun playing various board games - there’s no better way of getting to grips with a product than playing with it!”

Although this new agreement does not mean more jobs at the Lynn offices, the company has been actively recruiting for different roles in the past year for 18 months as a result of its overall growth.

Learning Resources sells to over 500 customers in over 50 countries and has become a major supplier to the UK, wider European, African and Middle Eastern markets offering educators and parents award-winning products in language, maths, science and early childhood education.

Feran, SA owns 13 modern, speciality toy stores across Spain and was founded in Madrid in 1957.
