Lynn’s BNI Vancouver Chapter is on course to set a new record which could see £2 million worth of business generated by its members in one year.

So far this year the group of 29 local businesses surpassed the magical £1 million pounds of invoiced business produced with more than six months of the year still to go. The Chapter’s invoiced business for 2016 already stands at £1,000,878.

Chapter members each represent one trade or profession. Each member looks out for business opportunities for chapter colleagues with dozens of new referrals passed between members each week.

This has resulted in a staggering level of invoiced business since January 1. The Chapter is looking for more members to join and share in its ongoing success. For the whole of 2015, BNI Vancouver members collectively found 1,737 new business referrals which turned into £1.2 million of recorded payments received.

By June 2, at the Chapter’s Thursday meeting, the total number of referrals reached was 1,097 due to the commitment of members finding business opportunities for each other.

Chapter President, Simon Johnson of Simply Interiors, said after the meeting: “BNI Vancouver is a group of like-minded people from a broad range of businesses who are determined to make every effort to help each other. What we all have in common is a determination to proactively seek out business opportunities for each other as we go about our daily work. What we lookout for are genuine opportunities for new or repeated business which we can then pass on. Our success is purely due to the members listening out for an opportunity for others whilst they are working with their own customers or clients. We all know a lot about each other’s businesses, thanks to a weekly 60 second update everyone does, so it becomes easy to ‘pre-sell’ on behalf of a colleague and recommend their services through a referral, which is then quickly followed up. It is a simple system but when operated effectively, the rewards can be huge – as the business we have generated so far this year proves.”

Like all BNI Chapters, Vancouver has only one representative company per business category but there are still some vacancies for trades, suppliers, services and professions. Any local business owners or managers wishing to visit a chapter meeting should call 01553 380264 or via the chapter’s website at www.bnikingslynn.co.uk. Meetings are held every Thursday morning at the Adrian Flux Arena in Saddlebow.
