KLFM is celebrating being named East Anglia’s Radio Station of the Year for 2014 – the fourth consecutive year it has taken the accolade.
What impressed the judges mostly was the station’s coverage of last December’s tidal surge when presenters and journalists chipped in to
bring people coverage of the situation across the area, staying on air until almost midnight.
In their comments about the station, the judges said: “KLFM is a lively and informative station that connected with its community with powerful news
coverage and engaging, heartfelt content that really drew the listener in. The judges were particularly impressed with the comprehensive coverage of the local floods.”
Adam Newstead, programme controller of KLFM, said: “I am delighted that, once again, KLFM proves to be a big hit not only with our audience, but with industry experts. This reflects the sheer amount of love and passion that the entire KLFM team put into creating engaging content and shows the strength of genuinely local radio. To have won four regional awards and two national Sony Awards over the last four years is something that most radio stations can only dream of, and I think that goes a long way in demonstrating just how special KLFM 96.7 is.”
KLFM counts around one in three people in West Norfolk as listeners.
