A new care support service is being launched by the proprietor of West Lynn craft business Sprinkle Twinkle, which is going from strength to strength since it opened a year ago.

Natalie Pilgrim is opening Pro-Active Care Support service which aims to provide support and guidance to families and people in need.

The idea came about through her craft shop at East Coast Business Park, which she opened in June 2014. By talking to customers she shared their concerns over situations at home.

She said: “The most regular conversations were based around needing help, care or support for themselves or their loved ones.”

Pro-Active Care Support is designed to take away the pressure from families and those who are alone but need care. The service offers people a telephone call for up to three times a day to speak to people who may be lonely or vulnerable and offers guidance on matters such as how to get the right benefits and fill out forms.

The service will also offer home help with activities such as cleaning, food serving, medication prompting, shopping and escorting people to the doctors and to collect prescriptions.

Said Natalie: “Some people see no one, others are more fortunate, but we know from talking to people that there is such a lack of social interaction from day to day that these people get very lonely and depressed. It is hoped that shortly Pro-Active Care Support will not only help to provide social care, but also provide a day centre type service where people can go along to a venue such as a village hall and we can provide entertainment, laughter, games and one-to-one stimulation to get people out of their homes and meet like-minded people.”

Natalie has already recruited one of her customers, a registered nurse, to join the service and is also seeking volunteers to help out at day centres across West Norfolk.

She has recruited two new members of staff, Davina Jarvis and Sarah Bell, to work at her shop. Over the forthcoming year well-known craft demonstrators have agreed to work on behalf of Sprinkle Twinkle at locations across the UK, to highlight its product range, which now has more than 7,000 lines, and offer weekend retreats.
