Nova Training stages open day at new centre in King’s Lynn and welcomes civic guests and The Stig

The Stig and West Norfolk Mayor were among visitors to a newly-opened training centre in Lynn town centre last week.

Nova Training opened its doors in Tower Street on Thursday so that representatives from businesses and young people interested in learning new skills were able to go along and find out what’s on offer.

Centre manager Mel Medlock was delighted with the response. She said: “We had several recruitment consultants visit and companies who might be able to offer work experience placements to our learners, which was very encouraging.

“It was good that our learners were able to participate in the day and know that what they are doing is so worthwhile. We had ten expressions of interest, which could mean a further ten new learners. There were severals inquiries about apprenticeships too.”

A person dressed as The Stig, based on the character from BBC’s Top Gear TV programme, went around the town centre to help promote the event on the day. Nova Training opened in Lynn in November and offers training in vocational and functional skills.
